On the afternoon of October 16, Zhejiang Normal University (ZJNU) held a formal ceremony to appoint Professor Theodoros Papamarkou as a Distinguished Professor. The event was attended by Prof. Zhang Jianzhen, Vice President of ZJNU, Prof. Li Zhengquan, Director of the Office of Science and Technology, as well as the leadership team and faculty from the College of Mathematical Medicine. The ceremony was hosted by Prof. Shen Liguo, Deputy Director of the Office of Human Resources.
On behalf of the university, Vice President Zhang extended a warm welcome to Professor Papamarkou, highlighting his expertise in machine learning research and his appointment as a significant step toward advancing the development of the College of Mathematical Medicine and related disciplines. Zhang emphasized that Professor Papamarkou's joining would enhance the university's research in interdisciplinary fields, particularly in mathematical medicine, while also creating new opportunities for international collaboration, injecting fresh energy into ZJNU’s growth. During the event, Vice President Zhang presented the appointment certificate to Professor Papamarkou.

Since its establishment, the College of Mathematical Medicine has adhered to its mission of maintaining a high starting point, promoting internationalization, fostering research-driven education, and encouraging multidisciplinary collaboration. In 2024, the college successfully recruited three distinguished professors from overseas. Moving forward, it aims to attract more leading experts, transforming its platform advantages into development strengths. The college is dedicated to nurturing more high-level talents with cross-cultural communication abilities and global perspectives, while also striving to achieve greater advancements in scientific and technological innovation.
