The Ministry of Education recently announced the approval of new undergraduate majors for higher education institutions for 2023. The ZJNU College of Mathematical Sciences has been approved to introduce the undergraduate major in Intelligent Medical Engineering (code: 101011T).
This new program aligns with the national strategic initiative “Healthy China 2030,” focusing on using intelligent technology to meet clinical health demands. Grounded in modern medicine and mathematics, it leverages the intersection of science, engineering, and medical disciplines. The program aims to cultivate innovative talent by integrating cutting-edge technologies, such as computer science, artificial intelligence, and wearable devices, with an emphasis on medical intelligent perception, intelligent medical equipment, intelligent medical image analysis and diagnosis, medical big data, and intelligent decision-making and management.
Since its establishment, the College of Mathematical Medicine has proactively supported national strategies and regional socio-economic development. The College has fostered interdisciplinary collaboration, leveraged 2 national platforms, and utilized its disciplinary strengths to advance emerging fields, particularly in Mathematical Medicine. It has established master's and doctoral programs in this interdisciplinary domain, along with 2 undergraduate majors: Artificial Intelligence (Intelligent Precision Diagnosis and Treatment) and Intelligent Medical Engineering. These programs aim to cultivate innovative, practically skilled talents in Intelligent Medicine with strong international competitiveness.
