The Ministry of Education published the current list of inter-disciplines and subdisciplines independently provided by degree-granting institutions (excluding military institutions). The application for the interdisciplinary master’s and doctoral degree programs in “Mathematical Medicine” submitted by Zhejiang Normal University College of Mathematical Medicine has received accreditation.
“Mathematical medicine”, as an emerging interdisciplinary discipline, provides effective ways to address key issues in precision medical image analysis and intelligent diagnosis and treatment through an interdisciplinary approach integrating mathematics, computer science, biology, and medicine. It develops new theories, methods, and technologies. It aims to break the bottleneck of intelligent medicine technology through S&T innovation and interdisciplinary research, improve the healthcare sector by implementing reforms and promoting intelligent healthcare, and serve the “Healthy China” agenda. Its research focus areas include 1) Cutting-edge Mathematical Theory and Algorithm of Medical Image Analysis; 2) Mathematical and Statistical Methods in Intelligent Diagnosis; 3) Precision Diagnosis and Treatment Based on Modelling and Medical Big Data; 4) Intelligent System and Sensing in Medical Equipment.
The College is dedicated to preparing innovative compound talents mastering medical knowledge and AI skills as well as providing significant and novel research contributions in response to the national development framework of smart healthcare and distributed diagnosis & treatment. The College places a high value on interdisciplinary development and has held review meetings on independently setting interdisciplinary degree programs, thematic seminars, expert panel meetings, etc.
